Notes:

Comparing times at different courses, on different days:

  • Unofficially, we are suspecting that the Catalpa course might be a hair longer than Founders. If Founders is 2.0 miles, then Catalpa might be 2.1 miles.
  • The Possum Hollow course at Kensington is the most difficult that we run on. It has the highest hill, and as the Farmington High cross country coaches tell us, it does not give the same energy return on each stride. It is just slower. Expect times there to reflect this.
  • Officially, DCD has a shorter course. Their official announced distance is 1.89 miles.

New Notes

We are coming into our busy time of the season, with four races in the next two weeks, so we are changing our schedule somewhat.
  • Practice will end at 3:45.

  • The meets this week are at Country Day (Tuesday) and Hazel Park (Thursday).

  • ALL team members should be dressed in their uniform on Tuesday, October 13, for the official team photo that will go in the yearbook.

  • The meets the following week are BOTH at Founders Park (October 20 AND October 22).

  • All athletes run in the South Meet (October 22) but there will be at least three races: Top 7 girls, Top 7 boys, and an Open race (like the County Meet). We may even have to separate the Open Race into a Girls race and a Boys race.

  • There is no practice either of the next Fridays (October 16 and 23).

  • ONLY the Top 7 girls and boys run at the League Meet (October 26). Other team members may come to watch. This meet starts at 4:00, and the organizers say that girls will be running first.

  • CLEAN uniforms can be turned in ASAP after the South Meet, or after the League Meet.

  • There will be a pizza party (tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 28) after the season. This will cost $3.00. Students may be picked up at 3:30 on this day.

Old Notes
  • Boys will run first in every race except at the Oakland County Meet on Oct. 9; girls will run first in that meet. It's a long story.

  • All runners will get a chance to participate at the South Meet, the division meet to be held Thursday, October 22. There will be three races, a Boys’ Varsity race beginning at 4:30, which includes the top seven girls from each team, a Girls’ Varsity race following, and then an Open race for all other runners. This is the same format as the County Meet, though the order is different.

  • The South Meet (Oct. 22) will be the last meet of the season for runners in the Open category.

  • At the League Meet, to be held October 26, only the top seven boys and girls from each school will run. We would prefer something different, but the North Division schools will also be present, and the Cranbrook course is too tight for so many runners. Everyone is welcome to come and watch.

  • There will be no practice on Friday, October 23.

  • We will have a pizza party to end the season. Date to be announced.
